Four ways to work with GamaBuilt.
GamaBuilt provides residential design, construction, and owner-side project leadership throughout San Francisco and Marin. Some clients come to us with an idea and want one team to carry the project from design through construction. Others already have an architect, a set of plans, or a builder in place and need experienced oversight. Our role changes with the project. The goal does not: thoughtful design, careful construction, and clear accountability from beginning to end.
Design-Build
For clients who want a single team to guide both the design and construction process, GamaBuilt offers an integrated design-build approach from early planning through completion.
We begin by understanding the site, the way you want to live, and the architectural character of the home. Design decisions are developed alongside real-world considerations such as budget, permitting, structural requirements, materials, and constructability, so the project evolves as one coordinated effort rather than a series of handoffs.
Eddie's background as both a builder and a design-minded problem solver is especially valuable here. He brings a contractor's understanding of how things need to be built together with close attention to proportion, materials, detailing, and finish.
Design-build can be a strong fit for major renovations, and projects where the client wants continuity from the first idea through the final detail.

New Construction
GamaBuilt builds custom homes throughout San Francisco, Marin, and the surrounding Bay Area, including projects on hillside sites and other technically demanding properties.
Ground-up construction requires more than executing a set of drawings. Site conditions, foundations, drainage, structural systems, building envelope, energy requirements, and local codes all need to work together before the visible parts of the house begin to take shape.
GamaBuilt has experience with complex excavation, shoring, seismic engineering, and custom residential construction, while maintaining the same attention to materials and architectural detail above grade.
We work closely with architects, engineers, consultants, and specialty trades throughout construction to make sure the finished home reflects the design intent as closely as possible.

Renovation
Renovating an existing Bay Area home often means understanding both what should change and what should remain.
GamaBuilt works on whole-house renovations, additions, and more focused residential projects involving Victorian, Edwardian, mid-century, and contemporary homes. Depending on the property, the work may include seismic upgrades, foundation and structural improvements, new mechanical systems, kitchens and baths, custom millwork, exterior work, and detailed interior finishes.
Older homes in San Francisco and Marin frequently reveal conditions that cannot be fully understood until construction begins. GamaBuilt's experience with historic housing stock helps the team anticipate those complexities, make informed decisions when conditions change, and preserve the character of the home while bringing its performance and livability up to current standards.
Whether the project is a complete transformation or a more focused renovation, the same attention is given to how the new work fits with the architecture that is already there.

Owner's Representation
For homeowners who already have an architect and builder — or are assembling their own project team — GamaBuilt can serve as an experienced advocate on the client's side of the table.
Owner's representation is different from acting as the general contractor. In this role, GamaBuilt helps the homeowner evaluate proposals, understand costs, review schedules, participate in design and construction meetings, track decisions, and identify potential issues before they become expensive problems.
We work directly with the architect, builder, engineers, consultants, and other members of the project team while keeping the homeowner's priorities at the center of the process.
For clients who do not have the time or construction experience to manage every decision themselves, owner's representation provides an informed point of view throughout the project — and someone whose primary responsibility is protecting the client's interests.

Not sure which service you need?
You do not need to know which service you need before reaching out. Tell us what you are considering, where the project stands today, and who is already involved. We can help determine the right structure for moving it forward.
Thoughtful work at a range of scales.
GamaBuilt works on a select number of residential projects each year, from focused renovations and highly detailed interior work to whole-house transformations and ground-up construction. Because every home, site, and design is different, project costs are developed individually. Tell us what you are considering, and we can help determine the right next step.
Bring us in early.
GamaBuilt works with a small number of clients each year. The earlier we're involved — ideally before drawings are finished — the better the outcome.
